McWilliam, Sacramento, California, from the LDS Library in Salt Lake. Page 268. NOTE: Listed as entry #169 under "Burials of Gwennap Parishioners in the parish of Redruth:" {This supports that this is the correct John Stephens as family had been living in Gwennap Parish for about 10 years, but continued to have their children christened at Redruth Parish Church.}

(Informant, James Edwards is probably a nephew, son of William EDWARDS & Johanna WESLEY, who was living in Treskerby in the 1851 Census. James EDWARDS would have been abt. age 21 at the time & his own father, William EDWARDS may have already been deceased, as he was dead by the 1851 Census.)

Case involving the Great St. George mine, [St.Agnes and Perranzabuloe Parishes) covering three columns of exact testimony. As the case is intricate, and involves land boundaries & payment for ore, only a list of witnesses is included. [Actually, the case was printed in the next two issues of the paper; it was very involved, and one main point was that the land had to be worked nine months out of the year, or ownership reverted to the lessor. A very, very profitable vein of ore had been found, and was making the current owners very wealthy.]
