Since he is listed as having died in Crowntown, he may have actually died at the home of his dgter Jane Eddy Trevithick, who was living in Crowntown on the 1881 Census. Crowntown was only abt. 2 mile up the lane from Chynhale.

Roberta Richards Peeples, Woodland, Calif. NOTE: Very lengthy obituary
supporting many dates and family relationships, detailed description of her
funeral (choir consisted of 4 people, one of whom was Thomas Richards, father
of her dgter's husband). Services were at the M.E. Church at Amador City.
Also, states her husband Joseph came to Calif in 1866, went back for family &
brought them out in 1871, left mines to start their mercantile business
somewhere about the year of 1877 to which they added farming and teaming, and
that business was crippled by fire in Sept 1891 which destroyed their store,
most of their merchandise, and also their dwelling {actually their boarding
house I believe}.
